This is one of our most thrilling dolphin swim encounters, in which ocean-loving visitors ages five and up can experience the power of the Pacific Bottlenose first hand! During this Dolphin Adventure, you’ll spend time getting to know and playing with our friendly dolphins on a shallow platform before hopping into deeper waters and riding across our crystal clear dolphin pool belly to belly with one of these lightning-fast creatures. It’s an unforgettable dolphin encounter for the whole family that was designed to be equally exhilarating for people of different ages and swimming abilities.
Hands-On Fun and Learning, Too
The sweet smiles of our dolphins make learning a treat! As part of this encounter, you will spend time learning about the Pacific Bottlenose’s unique anatomy and behaviors from one of our marine mammal experts. You’ll gaze into your dolphin’s eyes, rub their smooth skin and become so familiar with their quirks that you’ll feel like you’ve made a new friend.
Did you know that dolphins, like people, can have very different personalities? As you play, dance and swim with your dolphin, they’ll be learning about you as much as you are learning about them!
Get Inspired by Your Dolphin Adventure
Everyone knows that dolphins are smart, friendly and fun, but there’s actually a lot that scientists don’t know about these marine mammals yet. What we do know is that we can all help protect them from the impact humans are having on their habitats. Our programs help inspire people to think about how their actions impact the health of our oceans and of the creatures who call them home. When people, in particular children, spend time with dolphins in our Dolphin Adventure and other encounters, they naturally think more about how they can personally help dolphins thrive in the wild and are more likely to support research and conservation initiatives.
Safety Is Our First Priority
We are serious about the safety of both our guests and of our dolphins! Our staff has over 30 years of experience in all areas of the marine mammal field. From overseeing the health and welfare of our dolphins to offering dolphin education programs at our marine life center, our team of marine mammal specialists are working hard to create a greater understanding and appreciation of dolphins and the environment we share.
Do I need to reserve in advance?
YES! Spaces are limited and fill quickly. In order to ensure your tour date/time, we recommend booking in advance.
May I bring a camera or video camera to take pictures?
Cameras are only allowed in the observation areas, they are not allowed in the lagoons. However, we offer professional photos that are available for purchase after your experience.
Can I wear sunscreen (SPF)?
Sunscreen must be biodegradable and applied at least 30 minutes before the entering the lagoons, for the protection of our marine mammals. Any other sunscreen must be washed off before entering the lagoons. You can buy biodegradable sunscreen in our gift shop.
Can I wear jewelry?
Although we provide areas to secure your personal belongings, we recommend you leave all jewelry and small items in your hotel.
Why do you limit the number of sessions for people to interact with the animals?
Our animals’ health and welfare are of the utmost importance, so we limit each session. These incredible animals spend less than two hours each day interacting with the public. The rest of the day is allocated to their private, valuable training time, as well as for play and social interaction.
How safe are Interactive Programs?
Our programs have a remarkable and well-established safety record. The health and safety records of these kinds of programs have been continuously studied for over 20 years, each time reaffirming their impeccable records.
Can I make an animal sick if I participate in a swim program?
No, you cannot. Since the beginning of in-water marine mammal interactive programs in 1985, there have not been any instances of disease transmission between humans and these animals reported at any facility.
Can special needs visitors participate in your dolphin programs?
Before making a reservation, please talk to one of our Adventure Advisors so they can better inform you.
How do you care for your animals?
At our centers, we follow a program for preventative health care, including daily health assessments, regular voluntary veterinary examinations and dietary needs assessments. We continually provide an exceptionally clean and stimulating environment for them to live and thrive in, while providing a safe and stable setting for their social community (pods) and family to reproduce and grow.
